Buff Backers Newsletter Volume II Number III
I'm writing this while listening to the various 9/11 shows that GoldenBuffLover is watching. At this moment, John Mellencamp is singing "Little Pink Houses" on a concert put on by VH1.
To tell you the truth, I've avoided reading, watching or listening to much on this one-year anniversary of the worst event in my lifetime. I'm not entirely sure I'm ready yet to watch footage & interviews from Ground Zero, the Pentagon or Pennsylvania. Some day I will, I'm sure, but not yet.
I am ready, though, to celebrate being alive, American and living in the finest nation this planet has ever known. On the message board, Buffsoldier put it best by saying:
"No long speeches. Just a wish:
When you go home today, or when you finish reading this and walk away from your computer in your den, living room or wherever, take time to reflect, to think, to spend time with your loved ones and be thankful for your lives, your loved ones and your freedom. Thousands were forced to give their lives for it in New York and Virginia. Forty gave their lives for it over Pennsylvania. And so far, forty more of my brothers and sisters in arms have willingly given their lives overseas for freedom.
Pause and reflect. Give thanks if you so choose. But above all, after your reflection, live your lives. It's the best example of your freedom you can give."
Amen.
God bless America.
Brian

USC Game Tailgate
Buff Backers is planning a tailgate in Lot 430 before the USC game. We'll be getting started around 11:00. Bring some food to share (if you wish). Beverages are BYOB. Post a message on the board or e-mail a moderator if you have any questions.
Buff Backers Logo
RuffBuff has been so kind as to design two logos for Buff Backers that we'd like to use for making a flag (maybe more). But we need you to weigh in on the vote! The voting and the pictures of the logos are on the message boards. Put your two cents in!
